My 3 month old is starting to get chafing lines around her legs where the diaper hem rubs. What is the best way to treat this? Other than putting lotion on the chafed spots I'm at a complete loss.

Thanks!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

We use desitin for the areas inside the diaper but haven't thought of putting it on the outside. The chafed skin is only on the front parts of her thighs and is really dry. I haven't put any lotion on it yet... just wanted to check with you ladies before I do anything. Glad I did. We never had this problem with our first so I didn't know what to do.

I'm going to tell hubby to buy larger diapers and try the oinments you ladies suggested to see what works best.. Thanks ladies!!!

Maybe baby needs a larger size diaper?

Not lotion.
But A&D diaper ointment is good, or Burt's Bees "Baby Bee" diaper ointment.

It may be time for a larger size and you can try different brands. Some kids are sensitive to certain brands.

I like desitin too, it works great, but if you use baby powder then use some with pure cornstarch in it. It works great for that I have found with my son and it keeps them extra dry through the day.

Don't put lotion. Try some powder to get rid of the moisture or use destin to keep moisture out. If you stay home, you can choose to keep her out of diapers until her legs heal.

not lotion, it burns.

not powder, it can cause UTIs.

Desitin works wonders for chafing! & it's not only for babies....both of my sons & my DH use it for the summer months, especially with swim shorts!
