Can anyone recommend a dance studio in the Gilbert area that is boy friendly. My son has taken dance classes through the parks and rec but I am looking to put him in a studio. I would prefer a studio that at least has other males enrolled. I am not necessarily saying that he needs to be in a class with another boy, but I would like there to at least be another male within the studio. He is most interested in tap.

What can I do next?

Check out Heatwave dance at 202 and alma school. They are great and encourage boys and have male teachers. ###-###-####

I am not sure about age but my son (12 now) used to do hip-hop when he was younger and we had a heck of a problem trying to find dance that was either instructed by a male or had other boys in it. One thing I would recommend is trying out ASU. Sounds weird but they actually have a great dance program. Check it out! Great program - he had a really good time and learned a lot...and onto the next phase. :)

I just enrolled my son and his friend for an all boy hip hop and stomp class at Dance Connection Too in downtown Gilbert. They have a buy one get one free class special going on right now as well. We haven't started yet, but it sounds good, all boys, and boy instructor. I'm not sure of the ages, our are 5 and 6.

I grew up dancing with the male owner of Dance Matrix and his brother. Their mom ran the studio and taught her boys to dance, so boys were always a part of the studio and she made sure they maintained their masculinity. Now that Brian, one of the sons, has grown up he and his wife own their own studio, Dance Matrix, together and his mom teaches there. I love their family and when I decided to start dancing again last year I was so happy to find them. I clog, which is similar to tap dance. I chose clogging growing up because it makes more noise than tap :)
