Birthday Gift Ideas for 4 Yr Old Daughter.

My 4 yr old daughter's birthday is Sunday and i haven't a clue what to get her. We don't know any other kids so i usually don't do a party. We just have a family dinner with a cake. With her birthday being so close to Christmas, she already has most of the things she wanted, and i feel strange buying her clothes because that's something i would buy for her anyway. My family has been asking what she wants or needs and i don't know what to say. This time of year is so awkward because if i told them to buy spring and summer clothes there isn't a big selection out there yet, and i don't know what size she'll be then. Any ideas?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

We took her to build a bear and she loved it. She picked out a monkey and waited in line with her daddy to stuff it. She was so excited about watching the kids in front of her and when it was her turn she was cheering. we let her pick out three ensembles for ms. Princess the monkey. It was not as expensive as having a party would've been. She doesn't go to pre-school or daycare so she doesn't know any other kids her age. She's a last minute baby so all her cousins and siblings are a lot older than she is. That's why it's so hard to plan anything for her.

And I make these and little girls love them too. Actually, I just got asked to make a manly one for a 3 year old boy.

Or if you don't want to mess with me making one for you, you can always go to Target and get a little dress up set.

We are in North Fort Worth area, since her b-day is so soon, shipping would be out of the question. Just a thought!

But also, since she is so young and she will probably be getting other gifts, you can always make her something special. My son's 1st Birthday party is on Saturday, and I'm doing a time capsule. Family members will write him letters, special pics and things that are special that can't really go into his scrapbook, I'm going to put a spoon in there (b/c it's his favorite toy), a print out celebrity babies who share his same birth year, top baby names of his birth year... and since he won't open it up again until his 18th birthday, we are also including things for 18 year olds, like a book on college advice... I'm going to take pics of us assembling the time capsule and him eating his cake and then put them in it when I get them developed. There are tons of ideas if you do a google search.

A zoo membership, a subscription to Highlights Mag. or Zoobooks, a mani-pedi (many spas have special kid ones), a Build-a-bear gift card. I wish our relatives would use these suggestions! Have fun!

It may sound strange, but a gift card is great. They feel so powerful at that age when they can wield their own card at a store. It also will help them make decisions about what to spend the money on and basic adding. I always spotted my son the tax at that age and usually still do. If a regular gift card seems to impersonal then a gift card to build a bear workshop might not seem so impersonal. My son loves it also and you can really have a ball. My favorite gift cards are the visa vanilla at cvs. there is a flat $3.95 tacked on to the price not the $10 for the reloadables. The vanilla is $28.95 after the fee and is set at $25 dollars.
