Baby Monitor Trouble

I have a 3 year old, that I really like having a monitor in his room, and a 4 mo. old, whom I'd like to start puting her in her crib at night in her room. She's been sleeping in her bassinet next to my bed since she was born. My issue is, that I would LIKE to be able to have a monitor in both rooms at night, so I can hear from both rooms. Is this even possible? I've tried having both receivers on different sides of my room, on different channels, but all I get is a high pitched static. Is it possible to have 2 going, or am I outta luck? Any suggestions? Thanks! Jackie

What can I do next?

Hello-
I asked my husband the "tech guy" and he said that you need to goet two different brands so the frequency is far enough apart. Usually the same brand have close frequency.

We have two different monitors, that are different brands. We keep one on my husbands side of the bed and the one for the baby on my side (since I'll be the one getting up if she were to wake). We don't have any problems with interference. It's nice that the monitors are apart (one on each side of our bed) so that we can tell who is making the noise, etc. If they were both close together, the sounds would be hard to differentiate where they were coming from. One of our monitors is a video monitor and it's awesome. I know we can purchase another video monitor for the other room and have them both on one unit. We've just never done it. Good luck, N.. P.S. Be careful buying new monitors if you have neighbors with small kids that use monitors too! Find out what brand/models they have so you get something different! Otherwise, they will hear everything from your house in their house! It happened to me.

Hi Jackie,

I had the same need when my second son was born. I ended up buying a great Safety First system that actually monitors 3 rooms at once. It is called the Safety First Home connection system and I got it at Babies R Us about 2 years ago. It came with 2 receivers, so I have one upstairs and one downstairs and you can have it scan between the 3 different monitored rooms. You can also just switch it to any of the rooms and not have it scan. It works great! I am not sure if this exact monitor system is still available but I know they have similar ones on the market. A friend of mine got hers on Ebay, you might give that a try.

Good luck!

They sell double monitors. You might want to go that route.

Hi Jackie,
I don't know if this only would work for me being such a light sleeper, but I just keep my door open and I'm able to recognize who it is that's crying because of the distance each room is and also my almost 2 yr old has a deeper cry that's more of a whine, and my 4 month old he can just scream with lots of power. I still could be woken even if our doors are closed but my husband has to open even the kids bedroom doors or he did when I had to stay the night at the hospital. But yeah, we are able to make it with no monitor and I also have a 3 1/2 yr old too, though that could just have to do with how lightly I sleep.

We have Q-See video monitors from Costco, and they work great! The kit came with one monitor, but my husband went on their website and bought a second one. Now, we have one in the baby's room and one in the toddler's room. To check on both kids, all you need to do is change channels on the receiver. It even has sound and night-time viewing capability. Good luck to you!

What about putting the kids in the same room? My 2 like the comfort of not being alone, and have gotten used to each others noises, and don't wake each other up. (2 1/2 and 10 mon)

Is there a place, like a hallway, that you can put it that it could pick up noise from both rooms?

Hi Jackie,

I have had two different monitors going at once, and with poper placement, have had them work. The perfect placement got to me so I got the GRACO iMONITOR MULTI-CHILD DIGITAL BABY MONITOR. This allows you to listen to two rooms at once, or only one if that's all you need. The receivers cycle back and forth at the intervals you choose, and the volume can be adjusted for each room also. I really like it. Hope this helps!
