Dear I.,

Felicitaciones! Alejandro is a beautiful, handsome name. I also like the nickname Alejo. The combo Alejandro Logan is a little clashy to my ears -- the names just sound very different stylistically. I love the suggestion of Alejandro Lucas. But that's just a minor quibble. They're both wonderful names.

Alejandro is a great name. I have a friend and a colleague who chose this as a boy's name and they are very happy with it and it has a nice ring. In both cases one of the parents is Spanish.

I had the same issue (I'm hispanic) but looked for names that would not single him out as hispanic or be hard to pronounce, but would still be able to be used in Spanish speaking countries without people singling him out as American just by his name - David, Benjamin, Sebastian, Lucas - any of these work. For girls, your name I. is great; other options Ana, Lina, Susana, Sara.

As proud as I am of my heritage, it's hard to see some kids' hispanic names mispronounced constantly in the US. (Juan always being "one", miguel turning into "Mee-goo-el"). Looking for a job too, my hispanic name often closed doors - unfortunately, racism is still alive and well here, as well as fears that I was an illegal immigrant (I'm not!)I was stunned to see how just using my married (American) name suddenly opened doors :(

Try to make your child's name as neutral as possible.

Congratulations. Alejandro Logan is a nice name. I like that he named for your husband but also bringing in your heritage. This is one of the most wonderful times of your life. Enjoy every second of it!

Alejandro is a beautiful name. You may want to consider your last name and the way that the two flow together. I wouldn't worry as much about the middle name b/c it's not used all that often. A good friend of mine was in a similar situation and wanted to name their baby boy after their two fathers whose names were:
- Wesley Kayson
- Sergio Rodriguez (her father-in-law)
After much discussion, they decided to maintain the latino theme and the baby's name is Sergio Wesley Rodriguez. They decided that the first/last "agreement" made more sense!

Good luck and enjoy every minute of the next month!!

I think you definetly need to consider your last name. I love the name Alexander, such a strong name. Alejandro is fine but I don't think it goes with Logan. Have you considered derivatives of Alexander like Xander? But you are the mom and if you like it then go for it.

Congrats on your little boy! The name is gorgeous. I would just reverse it Logan Alejandro. I love the name Logan. That what I wanted to name my son but my daughter's name is Pheonis so that would have been too X-Menish lol. Its a great name you have choosen.

Hi, I think it is a wonderful name. And, I think it's great that you will name him Alejandro, not Alexander, to remind him of his heritage. I did the same as well. Good luck!

Hi I.,

Alejandro is a fantastic name. I think if I were using it myself, I'd choose Alejandro Mattias. I would not mix a Spanish sounding name with something Welsh/Gaelic, etc like Colin or a modern unisex name like Logan. Alejandro has an ethnic flair and is a very masculine name, I believe that names should flow, not just be put together

Good luck!

I love it! Alejandro has always been a name I have really liked. And Logan is good too. How does it sound w/your last name? If it all sounds good together, I think you have a winner! Blessing to you and your husband and baby boy!

Hi I.,
The most important thing here is that both you and your husband like the name! :) If both of you like it then half the battle is won. Alejandro Logan sounds very nice! And it sounds like is a little of both of you, which is exactly what your son is, a little of both of you. Don't worry about the name, when you see your baby you will know right away if he is an Alejandro or an Alexander :) or any other name you have in mind. Congratulations! and have a blessed labor and delivery!
I.
