Anyone Tried Acupuncture / Acupressure to Induce?

I'm 38 wks along and feel ready. I'm having some contractions, but nothing regular. The last 2 babies, I have done self induction by walking and pumping and within a few hours they were ready to make their appearance. I do not want to go over my due date with this one (I have big babies), but I don't really feel like walking for an hour at a time in the heat. I'm looking into other ways of induction and wanted some input from mommas who have had success or not with it.

What can I do next?

if you decide to self induce there are several helpful things you could try. Gentle Birth Formula has herbs that aid in labor and contractions. Lots of fresh pineapple. Castor oil. Just to name a few. That being said if yoru baby isn't ready you can try these things for weeks to no avail. I have not personally used accupuncture/pressure to induce but I have used it to aid once I was in labor. I also have friends who have used ti to induce. I would recommend Pam Kendall. She is also trained in the Webster method of chiropractic care which can also aid in optimal positioning for labor to occurr. She is in Keller but worth the drive from where ever you are. Her numbers are ###-###-#### or ###-###-####
I would also agree with everything Carrie D recommended. I used EPO myself.

You could still walk . . . the early mornings are nice right now and inside malls are a good air conditioned place to walk. In my own experience, the best thing for
"induction" was to not think about it and let the baby come when she was ready.

I agree with Amy A although I didn't need a pedicure, just a good ankle massage. There is a place just above the back of the ankle that stimulates the uterus when rubbed. This is how I went into labor with my second child. You will need to look up on-line or find a book that shows a diagram of massage points on the body to see exactly where to massage. For me, it took about an hour of rubbing then I started to get contractions that coincided with the rubbing. If my husband stopped rubbing, the contractions would stop. He rubbed half the night on a Sunday, I had contractions on/off the next day, then I had my son Monday night. Good luck!

Try going for a pedicure. There are nerves in your feet and ankles that can stimulate labor. It worked for my friend Karen! And hey, even if it doesn't work, at least you'll have pretty toes for the big day.

Good luck!
