Hi,
well its finally here, my eldest daughter is 12 1/2 and is eager to babysit. She is already watching her siblings from 2-4hrs from time to time, but she wants to expand on her "horizon". I feel that she needs more then just CPR (something that she just got last Oct.)
Any idea's?
I've looked all over for a babysitter's class or a book with no avail. Gee, back in my day there were Judy Bloom books every where on babysitting.

What can I do next?

Hi J.!

What a great parent you are for helping your daughter be responsible and prepared for babysitting!

Last I knew, the Red Cross offered babysitting classes for a fee. I think the Boys and Girls Club does as well. Another option is Overlake Hospital. They often have courses offered through continuing education. You can call the main switchboard and they can help you. It's possible some of the other hospitals like Children's or Evergreen offer classes as well.

Good luck, hope this helps.

UPDATE: I just had a thought. Maybe if you go to amazon.com and search by topic you might come up with something. For example if you type in the search bar for "books on babysitting" you might get a list of books that amazon has. If you don't want to pay for shipping, then you can always take the title of the book you want to your nearest bookstore and have them order it for you.

Overlake Medical Center occasionally has a babysitters class for those younger would be care givers. Check with their education center. Also, Childrens Medical Center provides babysitter classes, again call their ed center or go online. Caring for 4 young siblings is a great 'classroom'.

Most local hospital offer the SuperSitter class.

Or you could check with your local rec center/ YMCA.

My daughter is getting ready to take this class at the end of April as after school activity that the school worked out with the local place.
