I have had that happen so many times and all my blood work always comes back fine. Don't worry until there I a reason to and thyroid problems can usually be managed with medication.

No need to be afraid until there is reason to be afraid! Be patient and let the doctor check your thyroid. Even if there is something wrong with the thyroid, it is typically manageable. Good luck to you!

The only time I skipped a period is when I was hypothyroid, so it sounds like you have a smart doctor. If it is thyroid problem, try not to worry, it is 100% treatable.

Did they run any bloodwork to check your thyroid status yet?

There's not enough info here to make suggestions about possible causes. My periods were frequently late. Not a medical problem at all. It was just the way my body worked.

If you're older, you could've developed fibroid tumors in your uterus which tend to make periods irregular. Again, fibroids are nothing to worry about. Eventually one may have to have surgery but not for years. There are numerous benign reasons for a late period, as well. Please do not allow yourself to be frightened.

Our fears are caused by what we tell ourselves. Tell yourself that all is well. It is. Even if your thyroid is "off" there is medication to help.

Don't panic...please don't !!! Thyroid problems are so very very treatable!! I was diagnosed with Graves Disease which is basically a run-away overactive thyroid about 20 years ago. It is usually caused by stress ( I blame my husband...lol). I took a radioactive pill...waited about 6 weeks for my thyroid to "die' and then they started me on artificial thyroid hormones. It took one change in the dosage before they found the dosage that I have been on ever since. I have no problems...I take a pill everyday that just keeps everything purring along in perfect order. There is no reason that you can't go ahead and start a family even if you do have thyroid problems...so just relax and let the doctor do some checking to see what is going on !!
Good luck to you

Go get the information on your thyroid levels. No matter what comes back, if there is an issue, it's likely very treatable.

Then, go pick up Dr. Toni Weschler's "Taking Charge of Your Fertility". This is an easy-to-read, comprehensive book on all sorts of reproductive matters. It will explain the many reasons your ovulation or cycle may be delayed and offers tips for both conceiving and avoiding pregnancy. I loved this book and found it to be very helpful.

And Chely, I've had doctors check my thyroid several times for different reasons. Each time, there was no indication of any problem. I have noticed, thought, that when I'm stressed, it's always *after* I take these sorts of tests that my cycle starts. Funny timing, huh? Let us know how it goes.

Chely,
Don't panic cause that could cause you to not get your period too. Stress, worries, not enough sleep. I went cause I was 3 months past due and I also took plenty of prego. tests and all negative. I went to the Dr. and she checked everything. I also thought maybe it was my thyroid or something worse. I got all the results back and everything is good. I haven't been able to get enought sleep so she thinks that is what is throwing my period off too.
So just go back to the Dr. and have them do the tests. That way you know for sure. Hope all comes out well.

It could be a serious of things. Stress related or simply a cycle change. Don't worry about it too much. As long as your not experiencing any pain it may be nothing. Make an appt and see what the doctors says.

I've never been regular. Drives me nuts never knowing when I will get my period. It is just the way I am, no health reason...
