Wearing baltic amber is a traditional European remedy for teething. Amber is a natural analgesic and when worn on the skin, it releases healing oils that helps babies and young children to stay calm and more relaxed thoughout teething. Amber necklaces are a great natural remedy and can eliminate the need for over the counter medicines. You need to leave the necklace in the sunshine to warm up and increase the natural analgesic power. Please be careful though, Amber necklaces are made for wearing, not for chewing. Please supervise your child while wearing the necklace. I preferred, as did my daughter, frozen popsicles and bread. Bread was a big helper when she began teething. I would give her 1/2 of a bagel or I'd cut off the end of a day old italian loaf of bread and she would gnaw on it for hours.

Amber Teething necklaces work wonderfully! i used them for both my boys who are now 7 and 9. It is the reason I started selling them and became a Homeopathic doctor.

Mom,

in my opinion the best teathing ring, is a frozen bagel, or a cookie, OR any kind of food,
it may be messy for YOU, but SAFE, and healthy for the baby.

Also very helpfull, frozen fruit in one of those mess food teethers

They are wonderful! I am convinced they make a huge difference. DD still is fussy when teething, but if she's not wearing her necklace she is 10 times worse! I wear one myself and I think it helps with my neck pain.

They've been super. It might be too early to tell, but both of the kids have been way less irritable today. I haven't given them any tylenol for teething pain, but they seem happy and pain free with the necklaces. Plus, the necklaces are adorable. I took the kids strolling in the mall today and got many compliments.

Hi A.,
Have you tried teething tablets? I think they are made by Hylands. I read some reviews online and most moms RAVED about how fantastic the product is. It didn't work 100% with my son, but it does help sometimes. They are homeopathic and work with the baby's body. They disolve right in the mouth or you can disolve it in some water for the baby. They can be ordered online or you can probably find them in a local store (I have bought them at CVS and WalMart). I tried them myself. No real taste - just a chalky texture. Otherwise, a wet washcloth keeps my son happy for a bit and basically any clean toy that I give him goes into his mouth.
Hope those teeth break through soon, for your sake - my son has been teething since September, and STILL NO TEETH!! Best of luck to you and congratulations on your baby!

I found that amber teething necklaces work wonders. We put one on our youngest daughter and the next day she stopped complaining. It is a natural, safe way to go and provides a continual soothing effect which helps prevent her from getting overwhelmed. She wears it all the time and hardly notices it. We got ours from http://ecoprecious.com they are very nicely made and they have testimonials on their site.

One of my good friend's Godson wears one and his mother swears by it. It's short enough where he can't get it in his mouth, at least I've never seen him put it in there. Also, if you are following other safety tips for sleeping at night there should be no concerns with him choking himself. Give it a try, if it doesn't work move on to something else.

I found my necklace on etsy.com from G. Organics. They are in the U.S. so you don't have to worry about dealing with someone overseas. They have 5% off coupon code right now: GROTHBABY5 for 5% off. My little girl wore it throughout her teething and it was so nice to have a happy baby during that time!

It's my understanding that Amber teething necklaces are for wearing, NOT for chewing. During the first year of life babies "mouth" anything and everything they can get their hands on in order to learn about it. This necklace will inevitably end up in your child's mouth which is not safe.

Also, anything around an infant's neck is a strangulation hazard and should the necklace break the beads pose a choking hazard. These necklaces just do not seem to be an ideal solution to teething woes. Just too dangerous.

Don't jump the gun about pain relief. Some babies handle teething very well and require no intervention. Also there are great safe things you can do. Offer a cool wet washcloth to mouth & chew. Give baby a pineapple core to gnaw on - this was my son's favorite. A nice ripe peach or nectarine peeled and given with supervision (and a bib!) works wonders. There are many European baby toys that I have received from European relatives that are natural, organic, and safe teethers and I believe if you search hard enough you can find them.

And if it gets really bad give him some tylenol. HTH!
