Hi Moms,

Do any of you recommend an after hours pediatricin in the Plano area, like one of the Acute Care facilities? Ive have been to a couple of those and have left with mixed feelings. I have a suspicion Im going to need one this weekend...

Thanks so much!

We have been pleased with the A-cute Kids in McKinney off 121. Hardly ever wait and if we do it is less than 10 minutes....it is not our regular pediatrician by any means...we prefer her, but for after hours I am more than comfortable going there.

Hi, I have been to both Acute Care and Pediatric After Hour. Quality wise, they are about the same. The Acute Care has a TV in patient room, while PAH doesn't. This doesn't make a huge difference to us unless there's something really important that my husband couldn't miss (llike Football, ect). The thing makes difference for me is the copay amount. With my insurance, I will have to pay Urgent care to Acute Care, but PAH just charges office visits. So PAH is $30.00 cheaper each visit.

One place I will never go with a sick child is hospital ER, ugh!!!

Good luck.

Hi, I second the Acute Care Kids place in either Frisco or Plano. They have taken good care of my kids after hours and I had no billing issues with them. I have also heard good things about "Pediatrics After Hours" on Independence at Legacy, but I have not been there myself. Good luck.

We've used Pediatric After Hours at Legacy & Independence too. Their service and billing was pretty straight forward. They do take appointments if you want to call ahead - I didn't know this until I arrived for my last visit. I have heard good things about Acute Care for Kids in Plano, but we haven't been there.

I used Pediatrics after hours at Legacy and Independence once. I had good service and no billing related issues.

I'm a fan of Acute Kids in Frisco off of Preston inbetween Warren and Gaylord - it's in that Super Target shopping center area - I'm a new mom w/a newborn, and they made me feel very confident in their care - I live in Plano, but it's worth the extra few miles!

We have used Acute Kids Care once. http://www.acutekidscare.com/ They were good. I found their billing practices to be a little misleading, but other than that they get the job done fast and accurately.

There is another my pediatrician recommends, but I haven't tried them yet - thank goodness!

Good luck.
