A Sense of Community

I am pleased to see that 'folks' here over the years seem to 'keep track' of one another a bit...

Anyone else feel a bit of a connection to other members here?

I know *I* do...

And I am happy to hear updates!

What can I do next?

I tend to notice some of the other regulars on this site. Most of them, I noticed because we regularly post similar answers... Some, because they seem to be in a similar situation as me. (Like Fanged Bunny, who (as far as I can tell...) has an only child who is close in age to mine.) some of them I even like to roll my eyes at, because their answers are always so OPPOSITE of what I feel... But I enjoy them as well, because diversity leads to growth. There are a few people who I outright dislike, but hey, who likes everyone in their community? ;)

I really do like the sense of community on this site. I hate to admit it, but I am a very introverted person. It is extremely difficult for me to make friends. I have lived in the same place now for three years, and still have yet to make a single actual friend. I have plenty of friendly acquaintances, but no one I can call to just talk to or hang out with. Sooo, this site provides me with some much-needed adult interaction. :)

I do enjoy keeping up with others on the site. There are a few I wonder about now not knowing if they left the site or have a new name I'm unaware of.

I've been here a long time and enjoy keeping up with everyone.

Yes, I do feel a sense of community. I have difficulty keeping names straight or perhaps its more keeping what I know about a poster straight with the real name. I feel as if I know some of you because your answers have personality. Doesn't matter if I agree or not. You are part of what keeps my world interesting.

Often I feel somewhat overwhelmed with my own life and come to this site. Somehow answering questions helps me feel successful even when I'm not otherwise feeling successful.

This site also helps me feel good about my experiences and what I've learned. I appreciate the moms who ask for advice and the ones who give advice. We really are a community of women who touch each other's lives.

I was happy to see the update, too. Wanted to ask for it myself but not sure I wanted to intrude.

I feel like I do know some of the ladies and understand their perspectives. And hope they find happiness and love and peace!

Yes, there are a few names I look for regularly and one person who messages with me off and on throughout the day. She and I have similar sensibilities, methinks, and some fun things in common. I like it, it's low key.

A couple in my area-- we have met for lunch or coffee-- I have truly enjoyed those ladies!

Marda, you worded that so well! I throw a bouquet of Portland roses your way!

It has taken a bit but it has become a community of caring women and men and I enjoy their views and responses.

As I mentioned to SH if we didn't hear from her, we were going to take a collection and come to Hawaii and find her.

Have a great day to all.

Yes, for sure! And I love that I can put people's responses to questions in context with (my perception of) their personalities. For example, I feel like I am always "liking" Suz and Marda's posts.

And when I post a question, I know that Doris D, Veruca, and others will give me a straight-up honest response, which I always appreciate.

There's BD, who has kids with much in common with mine.

There are many others here too that I feel like I know, but (as always with me) I'm terrible with names so I can't put the names down right now, but I know them when I see them, and when I read the tone of the post!

I've been here for years now. Have changed names a couple of times. But despite that I still feel like an outsider looking in on the 'in' group.

I am so thankful for people on mamapedia. I went to Marda for personal advice a few months ago on and I will never forget her wisdom and kindness. I'm glad my community extends far past my physical location. :)

I do, although I miss the off site private chatter some of us used to enjoy more. It's harder to maintain the community here when conversations aren't really possible. Got to know a number of people through that and enjoyed their "company."

I have also been here a while, but like Swim Sally I also feel like an outsider. I also feel that I am from a completely different culture, although I always thought our cultures were the same based on what I see on TV and read in books, but from what I see here there are very many cultural differences.
