i believe my two month old is already teething, but he wont use the teething ring, he screams and screams, is there anything i can do to help him feel better besides giving him a pain reliever cause i dont want to drug him up. all the symptoms for teething fit, and yes there is sharpness where the teeth are going to be. he chews on his hand a lot, and my shoulder and has even pulled my finger into his mouth at one point. i'm pretty sure it's not tummy problems because i know what that cry sounds like. not to mention i have the nursing every hour thing going on, though he doesn't seem to be on very long most of the time. he is drooling a lot, also.
I agree with Molly, he might just have tummy issues, which then you should give him some gas drops, they work great and no side affects. If you do think he is teething, which it is possible, try Hylands teething gel. Its homeopathic, no side effects, and it doesnt numb, it just makes them feel better.
Have you felt around his mouth and are his gums swollen, any sharpness? If so then yes he is probably teething.
My son was most definitely teething at 2 months. SO many people (even a Dr.) told me there was no way. Well, he got his first tooth by 3 months and had 12 by 10 months. I gave my son camillia. My DD started teething at that age. I could FEEL where the tooth was. I could also see the tooth pushing against the gums. Everyone told me I was crazy for thinking she was teething already, until my pediatrician told me that was what was going on (When I gave all the naysayers a big 'TOLD YA! lol). I used to freeze washclothes, and she loved to chew on those. (She refused teethers too) She also liked me to use those little finger toothbrushes dipped in plain water or breastmilk to massage her gums. BUT... she didn't cut her first tooth until 7 months. It would push up, then recede, then push up, recede, etc. It makes sense, since my teeth do the same thing. (My stupid wisdom tooth has cut 4 times now, then gone back under. GRR!! lol) She is 10 months now, and just cut her 3rd this morning. :P
Try letting him suck on a cotton swab (supervised of course) soaked in real vanilla extract. It numbs a little and babies like the taste : )
Both of my children were early teethers. By three months my son had two teeth and my daughter's first tooth came in at the end of two months. There was crying, nursing more, drool and their gums became red where the tooth was about to pop through. Really at that age there isn't too much you can do. I turned in to the human pacifier for a bit, because nursing seemed to soothe them, until it started to bother them. They seemed to like frozen wash cloths on their gums too, but those thaw quickly and you have to watch them closely when they are that little. The pediatrician did mention that it's unusual to get teeth so early, so make sure you mention the screaming to your pediatrician to rule out any other issues.
If you are nursing, that helps. My oldest had all of his teeth by age one.
My middle son came home at 11 months with a mouth full of teeth too. Number 3 has been a text-book baby in all things but sleep (sigh) and he only has a few teeth at 14 months.
Also, if you are nursing, I suggest you eliminate all dairy (except yogurt, which is almost lactose free) from your own diet. This can cause tummy trouble that would lead to screaming too.
Oh, and I guess by #3, I was getting lazy, because when he screamed, it often meant I hadn't burped him properly.

Some babies do well with a cold washcloth to chew on. But be sure it's teething and not some other problem. Earaches can make a pretty miserable baby, as can reflux or even tricky little problems like a hair wrapped tightly around a toe.

Hyland's teething tablets are good; and I've also heard (but never used myself) that an amber teething necklace works wonders.
Why else do you think he is teething? He probably has colic. Look up the symptoms and see if it fits. Try giving him gas drops, gripe water, or changing his formula or what you eat if you breastfeed him. Also, does he cry when you hold him? Have you tried a swing? No, he does not need a pain reliever since its extremely unlikely that he is teething. You can try to give him tylenol at the time he usually screams and see if it makes a difference. Also, if it goes on, talk to the doctor.
Hes probably not teething at 2 months. Hes probably having stomach problems if he seems like hes in pain.
you are going to have to hold a teething ring for him mine cut that young too. and get teething tablets. mine had his first tooth at 5 weeks
My son also got his teeth early. I acutually had to have my gallbladder removed when he was only three months old. My mom came to stay with me and she was up for two nights with him. Finally a tooth came threw and she was shocked to see it. We didnt think to look for teething. She was so relieved to figure out what was wrong. I tried teething tablets with my daughther. They are a homeopathic treatment and they really do work. Just for your info. My dentist told me since he got teeth early he would loose teeth early. He is now 10 and only has 2 teeth left to loose. It seemed like the tooth fairy was coming to our house non stop for a while.
