I am planning to get my husband a keychain that shows digital photos that you upload. It's small and discreet but it will be nice for him to do a cool show and tell without pulling out his wallet! I would give you the website but I don't have the magazine page I ripped out in front of me that had it on there - if you're interested send me a message and I'll get it for you. The keychain is about $50.

I bought cute matching father/son t-shirts from www.personalizationmall.com that are black and one says big guy (then your last name) and the other says little guy (and your last name). They also have a variety of personalized frames on the website. I'm a fan of just scouring the craft store isles for DIY frames that always seem to be a hit for presents.

Hi Nicole:

I went to one of those stores where you can paint the pottery (the folks at the shop in Wheaton were so helpful!). My husband is a coffee drinker, so I got him a coffee mug and put our son's hand print on one side and foot print on the other and did some other decorating on it as well (Daddy down the side). With some help, it was pretty easy to do and it is one of my husband's most cherished possessions! The paints are non-toxic, so there are no concerns. My only tip is to move fast before you're all wearing the paints!!

We have a $30 and under limit for Mother's/Father's Day. For my husband's first Father's Day, I "adopted" a black bear at the Lincoln Park Zoo for him. I chose the bear because we had a running joke about bears because of their frequent appearance on our son's pj's and clothes. The zoo sent a picture of the bear, a certificate of adoption and a little stuffed black bear doll. Then on Father's Day, we went to the zoo to visit our bear. It was a lot of fun, and it was a meaningful gift to give in a world where "things" just accumulate and eventually will be given to Goodwill.

I am a photographer, and I get requests for a photo shoot of Dad with the kids, or sometimes Mom's have me take photo's ahead of time, so they can give Dad a framed images of his family, or a photo book. It's something that can be done in your home while Dad is at work, or at your local park or where ever is easy for you.

Last year was my first Mothers Day and my DH's 1st Fathers Day that we celebrated (our son was born 4 days prior to FD in 2005). ANYWAY, for each day we bought each other a sterling silver chain from www.mommytags.com. They are like Army dogtags, but have the name of your kids engraved on them. I LOVE mine and neither me or DH ever take them off.

It was a great feeling to be playing softball that summer again and feel the tags under my shirt. They are a constant reminder that my son is close to my heart...even if I'm not with him.

I can't wait to order the second one for our son being born in August.

I got my husband this for his first Father's day, and he loves it.
At Micheal's or Hobby Lobby they have a stone where you can put your childs foot or handprints in and decorate. I did my girls feet side by side, with their names underneath and we keep it in our garden. If you get the Sunday paper, they have a 40% off any non sale item coupon, so it'll cost you less than $10.00 for the nicer ones. They are 19.99-9.99....some contain beads, stones, paint. A gift to treasure.

I took a close-up picture of my daughter and husband's hands and put in a frame with a poem called "The Love In Daddy's Hands." It was such a sweet reminder of his first Father's Day. You can e-mail me directly at ____@____.com if you want the poem. L.

What I got for my husband on his first Father's Day was a t-shirt with a picture of our son on it. He LOVED it! Now, 4 sons later, I still do that every couple of years. This year, our eldest is leaving for the Navy, so this year, since my hubby likes the bank KISS, I am going to 'paint' each of my sons' faces to match that of the bands and take their picture and have that on a t-shirt and a mouse pad! Good luck!

God's Blessings

I went and had pictures taken of me and my son and had a collage made. Last year I made a slide show video for him of my sons first few years of life....oh boy was that a tear jerker!!! You can make one for free( you get to pick the music you want), which he can watch on line, I ordered one(cost about $20 I think) and it came it a custom DVD case....it was really cool! This is the site I used.

I went to a pottery place with my daughter and put her footprints on a picture frame and decorated it for him and put a picture of her in it. He loved it. This year I might do something similiar with her handprints on a coffee mug.

My husband likes the outdoors and gardening, so we made stepping stones for the garden, with each child's footprint or hand print, name and date, and decorated them with colored stones, cute baby buttons and legos. We did this for grandma and grampa as well.

Hi Nicole,
For his first Father's Day, I went to www.kodak.com and ordered a book with pictures of him and our daughter. I found a bunch of quotes on-line too- I'd be happy to share them with you if you are interested. The book is really nice. It has a fabric covered hard front and is bound like a regular book. We put a special dedication in the front, too. Now I have to figure out what to do this year!
