14-1/2 Month Old Who Won't Drink Whole Milk

My 14-1/2 month old daugher will not drink whole milk... I tried to start her on it after her one year doctor's appointment. I've tried adding strawberry and chocoalte flavoring, I've added sugar, I've tried giving it to her warm and tepid and cool. She will eat cheeses and loves yogurt so I'm trying to use the whole milk smoothies to get her daily vitamin D/calcium servings in. I still give her formula on occasion (out of a sippy cup) because she still prefers that to anything else. Anybody out there have any suggestions?

What can I do next?

Hi D.,
I'm a 38 year old first time mom with a 20 month old son...who also has A LOT to learn, so you're not alone! : )

My son is an extremely light and fussy eater and I have been crazy neurotic over it, but trying to let it go. I think if your daughter is eating cheese and yogurt she's probably just fine. I also do smoothies - with whole milk and whole milk yogurt (I put about 3/4 cup/smoothie)as well as fruit, and lately even some Pediasure, just to make sure he gets everything he needs. Some days, that's the very best of what he eats, so I'm grateful he'll drink it. I doubt I've been much help, but maybe if you add yogurt AND milk to the smoothie you'll feel better. I bet she's doing just great.

I have heard from pediatricians that you can mix like 3/4 formula and 1/4 milk and each day just keep reducing the formula amount until it is all milk and that will help her get used to the taste gradually. You may have already tried this, but if not, it's worth a try.

Hi
Congratulations on being a new Mom. I had my 3rd child at 40; my two youngests are 16 1/2 years apart. Have you tried splitting formula and milk? Start out with say 2/3 formula and 1/3 milk. If she likes it, you can slowly change the ratio until she is drinking just milk. That is the way I introduced my son to whole milk or actually he drinks 2%. He went from just breastmilk for 1 1/2 years and then when we were out and couldn't nurse he would get sort of diluted formula then when we switched to milk I just did it slowly so he wouldn't really notice. Now he drinks almost only chocolate milk. He will even drink soy milk with no problem.

God Bless!!

I don't think it matters that much I am on my fourth child and
they are all different. One only liked juice , my three year
almost four year old still uses a sippy cup. I don't want my carpets ruined so it is safer. I personally ate baby cereal till I was 16. It was softer and I hated Quaker it was to thick. I changed when my friends started making fun of me.
There is no ideal way as long as it is healthy and they are happy.
